About the Application Support Engineer role
The Application Support Engineer will provide L2 technical support for production and non-production environments, ensuring the stability, availability, and performance of business applications and supporting infrastructure. The role involves monitoring systems, troubleshooting application, database, middleware, network, and operating system issues, and supporting deployments, patching, upgrades, and releases. The engineer will also manage automation scripts, database checks, batch jobs, integrations, access and security activities, and disaster recovery testing. Working with application, infrastructure, database, network, and vendor teams, the role will resolve incidents and maintain clear technical documentation and operational procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide L2 technical support for production and non-production environments, with strong hands-on experience in Linux, Oracle Database, and Shell Scripting
- Monitor the health and performance of applications, servers, databases, and infrastructure using enterprise monitoring tools
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues across applications, middleware, databases, networks, and operating systems
- Support deployments, releases, patching, upgrades, and post-implementation validation activities
- Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline operational and technical support activities
- Execute SQL queries, perform database health checks and performance validation, and carry out basic database administration tasks
- Support certificate renewals, password rotations, user access management, and security compliance activities
- Monitor batch jobs, integrations, interfaces, and scheduled system processes
- Assist with Disaster Recovery (DR) testing, environment validation, and service restoration activities
- Create and maintain technical documentation, support procedures, and operational runbooks
- Coordinate with application, infrastructure, database, network, and vendor teams to investigate and resolve technical issues
- Participate in on-call support and critical incident troubleshooting as required
