About the Product Manager role

The Product Manager is responsible for driving end-to-end product development, from problem definition to release and continuous improvement, with a focus on GIS-enabled data products. This role works closely with stakeholders and users to understand needs, define product strategy, and develop roadmaps that align with business outcomes. Collaborating with designers, engineers, and data teams, the Product Manager ensures timely delivery of scalable solutions, oversees data governance and integration, and drives adoption through user engagement. The role also tracks performance through defined metrics, iterates based on insights, and ensures products support planning, analytics, and decision-making.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive business outcomes by taking on a product from end (problem definition) to end (release and continuous improvement) · Interview stakeholders and users to understand problem space and define problem statement
  • Craft proposals to justify resource allocations and secure funding
  • Manage the GIS data product roadmap, prioritising ingestion and harmonisation of geospatial data from multiple divisions, with clear governance and access models
  • Define success measures and set up dashboards to monitor progress
  • Identify hypotheses, develop product strategy, and devise initiatives to drive product outcomes
  • Create product roadmap and work with team to ensure timely achievement of goals
  • Work with designers, software engineers to develop, test and release product
  • Measure outcomes and continuously iterate product to drive outcomes
  • Engage with and support users to drive product adoption

Requirements:

  • Familiarity with GIS platforms: ArcGIS Server, PostGIS
  • Can translate user needs into requirements for data pipelines, metadata, quality controls, and map-based visualisation features; aligns stakeholders across GIS, data, and UX teams
  • Ability to ensure deliverables support planning, analytics, and decision-making
  • Able to communicate well, strong conviction in the Government’s mission and good user management skills
  • Experienced in running major projects with strong management skills
  • Can think of the big picture while being able to deep-dive into details if required
  • Able to hands-on and go onsite e.g. project sites if required
