Helping drive progress in AI-powered human factors & ergonomics: USER at ACED Conference Singapore 2026

SINGAPORE – User Experience Researchers (USER), one of Singapore’s leading AI transformation companies took a joint initiative with the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of Singapore (HFESS) and other ergonomics organisations in of the region’s biggest human factors event this year, the ACED Conference 2026. The event ran from 1 to 5 August with the theme “Driving Human Progress through Human Factors, Ergonomics, and AI.”

USER’s CEO and Founder Dr Yuanfu Qiu served as one of the key speakers in the event, presenting about the topic, “Human-Centred AI Governance in High-Reliability Digital Services: An Ergonomics Framework for Cognitive Sustainability” in one of the event’s many workshops and breakout sessions on human factor-led movements. 

“I deeply appreciate the thoughtful engagement and meaningful conversations I shared with attendees and other industry luminaries. I believe we have achieved our goals of furthering the knowledge and interest of more experts in the field of ergonomics, human factors, and working towards human-centred progress through AI,” Dr Qiu says. 

This year’s conference highlighted the importance of keeping people at the centre of technological progress. Workshops, keynote sessions, industry site visits, product design awards, and collaborative student design challenges created opportunities to exchange ideas and translate HFE principles into practical applications. ACED invited notable industry figures from global names such as Dell, HP, and Samsung, as well as experts from institutions and Singapore Government agencies such as the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), National Tsing Hua University, Foxconn University, and the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA).

The importance of human-centred goals in the age of AI 

The event also marked an important milestone: 40 years of HFE advancement in Singapore. The occasion reflected both the progress made and the growing relevance of ergonomics and human factors as organisations navigate increasingly intelligent and complex digital environments. 

Dr. Qiu explains the importance of using human factors in the age of AI: “As AI becomes more embedded in essential digital services, we must remember that people should remain at the helm of how these systems are built, governed, and improved. Technology can help us move faster, but human judgment, accountability, and collaboration are what make digital services sustainable.”  

The conversations at brought by USER at ACED 2026 reinforced the value of bringing technology, design, research, and human understanding together to build a more sustainable and human-centred future.
