About the Quality Engineering / QA role
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and support quality engineering practices for citizen- and officer-facing digital products
- Define and implement test strategies based on product, technical, integration, and operational risks
- Design and execute functional, integration, API, and end-to-end testing across applications and services
- Develop and maintain automated test suites to improve test coverage, reliability, and release confidence
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous validation throughout the software development lifecycle
- Perform API testing and validation to ensure service functionality, data integrity, security, and reliability
- Test distributed systems and integrations across government agencies, platforms, and external partners
- Validate secure data ingestion and ETL pipelines, including data quality, accuracy, completeness, and failure handling
- Identify edge cases, failure scenarios, and potential production risks through systematic testing and validation
- Conduct performance, reliability, scalability, and security-conscious testing where appropriate
- Investigate defects, perform root-cause analysis, and work closely with developers to identify and resolve quality issues
- Collaborate with developers and engineering teams to improve application testability and prevent defects earlier in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Contribute to the modernisation and enhancement of existing Java-based and platform applications by ensuring quality and maintainability throughout the delivery lifecycle
- Support testing and validation of cloud-based applications, infrastructure, deployment processes, and system integrations
- Establish quality gates, validation practices, and release-readiness criteria across development and deployment pipelines
- Use test results, quality metrics, defect trends, and other evidence to provide recommendations on product quality and release readiness
- Promote engineering practices that improve code quality, testability, maintainability, and overall system reliability
- Develop reusable quality engineering capabilities, frameworks, and practices that can be adopted across multiple teams within the organisation
Requirements:

- Test strategy and risk-based testing
- Functional, integration, API, and end-to-end testing
- Test automation and automated test frameworks
- CI/CD test integration and continuous testing
- API testing and validation
- Testing distributed systems and system integrations
- Data validation, data quality, ETL, and data pipeline testing
- Performance, reliability, scalability, and security testing
- Defect investigation and root-cause analysis
- Testability and quality improvement across the SDLC
- Quality metrics, test reporting, and release-readiness assessment
- Cloud and modern application testing
- Agile / DevOps / continuous delivery environments
